Velocity Chukker // Split Seam
Kyoichi's new Velocity Chukker split at the seam. And these were supposed to be some tough rims? Not like those exploding Chinese rims, right?
Quote from the man himself: "Fucking piece of shit!"
EDIT.
Just to make this more clearer and before the Velocity President Mr. John Black comes here to set me straight once again:
Everyone understands that stuff like rims can break or get damaged in certain conditions, right? One rim or whatever component breaking does not mean that every item produced by the company in question is no-good. Not even when the rim is question was marketed as a extra tough rim for 'the fixed gear tricks / bike polo community'...

"...did you make your own NJS stamp?"
On Ebay:
"Q: Hi there, I'm bidding on this stem. Just out of curiosity...did you make your own NJS stamp? I still intend to bid on this stem regardless of your answer because frankly I need an 80mm stem and Nitto makes a nice product. Here is why I ask: I checked out some of your previous auctions and all of the stamps look the same. Good, but not quite perfect...a little large and sharp looking and then a few examples with multiple strike marks, also, the stems are not models that I recognize as having been offered as NJS approved. I'm not trying to be a jerk about this, I've actually had the idea to do the same thing on my own before and I can see why stems would be the logical choice (soft metal, flat striking surface) Like I said, just curious. I'm not trying to ruin this for you.
A: Yikes! No that would be bordering on some sort of fraud. All of the stuff we have we have pulled out of older bikes (and yes some of it seems pretty strange but it is what it is). i am a mom of 6 kids that works part time as an RN and my Husband races bikes. Neither of us have either the time, inclination, or skills to do anything of the sort, and after running through this with my Husband we concluded that if we did, it would be much simplier and smarter to stick to parts that were at least colorably recognizeable to the track community. A couple of years ago we bought out a bike shop that went out of business and a lot of this stuff comes from that inventory. There seems to be a lot of NJS stamping on older (like 1970s-early 1980s) mundane type parts as well as some unusual bikes (ie a stainless steel shiny "Kubuki Submariner"?? So the answer to your question is definately no."

Kids In Moscow
Fixed Gear Moscow from Alex Goncharenko on Vimeo.
This looks cool, first FG video I've seen from Russia.
My experience of our mighty neighboring country is only limited to couple of more or less vodka-soaked visits to St. Petersburg but the traffic there seemed just bit too crazy for cycling.
On the other hand, everyone knows that back in the day Soviet Union was always a major player in Track Cycling so there is bound to be a bunch of cool old Russian track bikes hiding in somewhere...

Helsinki Cup Final Battle: The Triathlon
Yksivaihde.net Hesa Cup Triathlon from Eki on Vimeo.
The Epic final battle of the Yksivaihde.net Helsinki Cup. A Surpise Triahtlon race to finish off the series of eight fixed gear contests and races.Well, I guess you had to be there and participate in order to fully appriate the fun-ness of all of it but it was all great and hopefully we'll do this again next year. And I'm pretty damn proud of my fifth placing, even when I missed two of the competitions.

Bikes Direct Presents: 'Pro Level Track Bike'
Bikes Direct is - finally - getting out their 'Pro Level Track Bike'.
Aluminum frame from Taiwan with that magical recess for the rear wheel in the seat tube like Pista Concept and all. Carbon fork, of course, and the bike will eventually be available as a complete with some Dura-Ace Track(!) parts, or just as a frame set.
But hey, why does it look some much like the Fuji Track Comp? Or Masi Coltello? Maybe because it's basically the same bike, and made in the same factory? Ok, they're made from different AL tubing but still.
Anyhow, if you're interested, there's more info and a pre-order with a lower price going on HERE now.

Olmo Pista Rides Again
I've posted lots of pics of broken bikes and components lately.
Now here's something bit more posivite for a little change: Zjeim's Olmo Pista's broken fastback seatstay cluster brazed back to life by Santtu_T. Let's hope it holds together now, gotta remember thought that the Olmo is already second Italian vintage steel track frame Zjeim rides to ruin, and he's not even a messenger or anything like that...
