RE: Fixie Inc. Back Spin 2010

Fixie Inc. out of Germany have revealed their model line-up for 2010, fixed gear bikes with belt-drives and whatnot, bold engineering solutions for the future, all looking good and dandy so congratulations guys.

BUT, one thing among the photos caught mr. Konkeli's and my eyes: 'the pedal solution' of the Back Spin model, above. Do they look any familiar? Yes they do.

Now, dear Fixie Inc. people, in order to give credit where the credit is due and because we need polo bikes, we would be more than happy to receive two complete Back Spin bikes, in sizes 54 and 56 respectively, shipped to us here, please. You'll find my email up there on the right. Or if that's too much to ask, maybe just a pair of Mo's Polo Mallets would do too. Thanks!

Just A Detail

Swap Meet // Helsinki 30.8.2009

Yksivaihde.net bike swap meet / flea market coming up next sunday in Helsinki, at the parking lot behind the Finlandia Hall, starting at two o'clock. The exact location is HERE.

Back Again // Which Velodrome?

All right, I'm back here again to help you waste more or your employers time. I was away traveling for a bit and now here's a little guessing game:

At which city was that pic taken back in 1985? There's even a hint there if you're smart enough...

And I might post some current pics if someone at least tries to guess.

* * *

AND THE RESULTS ARE IN!

Mr. ASB was the fastest and the wisest, congratulations. The pic is from el velodromo at the Centro de Práticas Esportivas da Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. Which looks pretty sad today, see below. The pics are actually stolen from here, because why would I bother going to see some old unusable velodrome while visiting such an exiting city? ;)

Help The Dudes Out: JP Revival Fund

You know about this incident already for sure, so if you're feeling for these guys, go ahead and help them out a little bit.

"Sitting around and waiting magically for our bikes to reappear is wishful thinking. So we thought we make a fundraiser to rebuild what we have lost. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. I’d do the same for you in you were in our shoes. For more information and to make a donation... go HERE!"

Vans SPD BMX Sneakers

I guess I missed these whenever they came out:

"Vans and BMX racing were synonymous in the late ’70s and throughout the ’80s. With the natural progression of BMX racing and downhill mountain bike racing now demanding specific footwear, the designers at Vans created a shoe that meets the technical needs for both disciplines. Rounding up the best riders in BMX racing and mountain biking to help us develop and test our product, we created a shoe loaded with function and style.

Vans’ Warner is the first choice in style, comfort, and performance for SPD compatible shoes for today’s BMX racers and mountain bikers alike. The Warner utilizes our lightweight gum rubber “Off the Wall” tread pattern molded to our performance driven SPD compatible outsole. We’ve internally relieved material from key points on the SPD compatible plate to keep it light yet stiff over the mid foot area while providing flex in other key areas. The upper infuses a blend of weather resistant synthetic leathers and vented ballistic nylon mesh with a removable hook and loop adjustable tension strap. Our self centering gored tongue keeps debris out of the shoe while the molded EVA foam sock liner ensures that your feet stay comfortable and supported all day.

· Available in sizes 6-13 (half sizes as well!)

Not my style, though.

I'm Being Bootlegged

WTF!?

Dear readers, check this out: http://www.fixed-gear-blog.com/

A blog boldly copying all my recent blog posts word for word, pic for pic, see above and see this, for example. Except that there are some posts about some shitty goth / emo stuff in between. Kinda awesome. Or maybe not. There's even "Copyright © Fixed Gear Blog " there.

Anyhow, whoever you are, first just FUCK OFF and then wait for my lawyers' call any minute now. And one more thing, just go ahead and copy this post to your blog.

Vintage Fail Pic For Friday

Bressan 'Pistaiolo'

Bressan - Bicyclette Speciali out of (yeah, you guessed it...) Italy, and from Verona to be more specific, sent me an email about their new steel track frameset 'Pistaiolo'. A classic track frame with some very nice touches, like the chromed lugs and forks both in front and rear, plenty of panthographs etc.

There's no word about the type of tubing used or the price but go ahead and check out the site: http://www.bressanbike.com/

Kraftwerk: Tour de France

Just because I will go see them tonight !!!

Sugino 2010 // Back To The Old School

Sugino's crankset line-up for 2010 is looking pretty good. We already had some photos while ago from the Taipei Cycle Show, here.

The new polished Sugino 75s will obviously look much better that these RD-2s but what I really like is that they're bringing back the cool old school Crowned S Sugino logo from the 1970s and 80s, just like in my old Grand Mighty track cranks. And I'm also digging the old chainring design with cutouts, copied straight off the original Campy Nuovo Record.

Massan's Blog & Bike Check

Massan has a new blog, which you might want to check out.

To celebrate that and since I'm still quite stoked about his first Macaframa clip, I'm stealing his Leader bikecheck from W-BASE Tokyo for your enjoyment:

FRAME: LEADER
FORK: LEADER
HANDLEBAR: DEDA Pista
GRIPS: STRONG-V
HEADSET: FSA
STEM: THOMSON
CRANK: SUGINO 75
SPROCKET: SUGINO ZEN Racing

SEATPOST: THOMSON
F & R RIM: H Plus SON FORMATION FACE
FRONT HUB: PHIL WOOD Track LF
REAR HUB: PHIL WOOD Track LF
FRONT TIRE: CONTINENTAL
REAR TIRE: VITTORIA RANDONNEUR

And it seems that Crank Arm Steady already did the same thing, and they even have his other bike there.
