The Aero Rim Wars: For Just 1mm More

This is pretty funny. As there's been recently so much competition emerging in the field of aero track/fixed rims, Velocity have decided to step up their game.

Velocity's President John Black talks about their new rim model, the B43:

"If all goes as planned, they should be readily available this spring.... I hope. It is called the B43, because it is 43mm tall, making it 1mm taller than our very worthy and formidable competition."

Now let me just copy+paste that once again:

"...making it 1mm taller than our very worthy and formidable competition..."

Is he serious? Aussies are known to have quite particular sense of humor. But if he is, WHO CARES?!

I don't. And just for the record. I'd much rather support H+Son or Dodici. Or get some vintage Campagnolo or Zipp rims or whatever.

This remarkable news was picked up from http://ecscorchers.blogspot.com/

velocity rims are no good, so is hplus son, dodici will probably not too bad, as they are made by gpm or gipiemme, part of campy and italian, does that not say all?

i dunno dude. whoever makes the most solid rim to me is whats the most important. from what i hear (from what my friends and i experience) velocities still make the most solid bang for your buck rim. in my personal opinion i still like velocity the best (besides their wack yellow/red sticker). but then again i dont break parts/rims like Keo does...so what do i know!

hplus son- 540 grams 42mm

b-43 740grams and 43mm

I am guessing with a rim that weighs 1/2 pound heavier it should be more durable?

Hey guys,

Anonymous, why do you say Velocity rims are no good? Did you have a bad experience? If I can be of any help, let me know.

I guess you care, Jussi. Enough to post. And rant.

Hello Anonymous,

I sure would appreciate it if would would expand on your "Velocity rims are no good" statement. I can't fix the problem if I don't know what it is.

I am a wheel builder and I have laced so many deep vs that I am sick of working on them. But I can not fault their quality. I build them in a 36 four cross for me and lots of 32h 3 cross. I have never gotten one back. I kill bikes and the wheels go from frame to frame. I love my popcyicle purple rims.....
