Another Old School Bianchi Pista

There's an interesting older Bianchi track bike on our Finnish online auction site.
The seller claims it is from1940s or 1950s and that "it has been raced on the track at national level" and comes with two pairs of wheels, the other with wooden rims. It will be a cool project for someone and as far as I can see it looks to be quite similar to the nice restored one I posted here earlier.
EDIT.
Tnts managed to extract what appears to be correct sizing info from the seller and it's obviously way too big for me. Frankly I'm relieved. But here's some more photos:

"NYC Messengers" (1987)

Another old school NYC messenger pic, just because my 10-9 day post generated such irritation among some tough guys out there.
And hey, cool kids rode track bikes on the city streets, carried messenger bags, didn't wrap their bars and even rocked the same stupid Italian cycling caps. The funky cycling sunglasses area nice touch too.
The pic was originally published in "Westuff, no. 89, May-August 1987" Photo by Daniela Salvioni. From here.

Dondi White Appreciation

While on the theme of graffiti and the roots of the fixed gear movement and the like I think this picture of Style Master General Dondi White back in the day needs to be posted here. He is a legend.
Stole this from REFURBS, thanks! ;)

Kazane X Natas Kaupas

And if you're too young to know who Natas Kaupas is, it's time to educate yourself. Because back in the day, after the 'Wheels of Fire' came out street skateboarding was never the same. The man is a damn legend....

Spot The Similarities
So, can you spot any similarities between these two BMX-themed videos?
First we have some random emo-kid with big hair and tight jeans rocking out in his bedroom to some screamo-whatever sounds and practicing his barspinzzz...
Then we a random washed-put big time rock idol guitar hero with big hairdo and very tight jeans goofing around on nice old school BMX, and falling off it a lot.
Both videos are from this excellent blog right here. Someone made a good point in the comments section to the latter video by asking whether this was the first evidence ever of anyone riding a BMX in 'girlie jeans'?

How To Sell Fixed Gear Related Stuff

Ever wondered how you could get rid of those old Campagnolo Super Record Track pedals your uncle gave you long time ago and which you never used? Well, here's how to do it, on Craigslist:

You're riding down Osos street on the way to Mitchel park, its a cool spring afternoon. You notice all the women aged 21-35 are standing along the sidewalk, all staring at you. As you stop for a red light, one approaches:
HER: Pardon me, are those Campagnolo Record Track Pedals?
YOU: Why yes... They Are.
HER: [blushes] Wow, you must be a man of true discernment... tell me big boy, do they strap on tight?
YOU: Oohhhhh yeah.
HER: [stammers, begins to twitch] Wha.. what era?
YOU: Super Record...
HER: [tearing off clothes] YOU TOTAL HUNK OF A MAN, TAKE ME NOW!!!!
YOU: [under your breath] Thanks, craigslist!!
Seriously dudes, it could happen to you. These pedals are the real deal!

Dyno with Black Mags. Fixed.

An important aspect of the Fixed Gear culture is building and the constant upgrading of your bike(s). Well, some people are more innovative than others and manage to take their crazy ideas even further out there.
Fixed Gear Gallery is the most popular place to show yours and marvel (and diss) at others' creations. Between the endless supply of mostly boring and crappy road bike conversions sometimes some real jewels of DIY innovativeness pop up.
Like this one here. Dyno with black mags. Fixed gear, of course. Brilliant.
And what's even better, it's currently for sale, here, for only 100 USD. I bet it'll be gone before you can say 'click the link'. In addition, there's even a cool rap song that praises the magical combo of GT Dyno with black mags.
There's also recently been lot of talk about the revival of the BMX, referring mostly to old school 1980s bikes that everyone used to ride as kids, and also the fact that the current style trend of fixed gear bikes after the MASH SF film seems to veering increasingly towards doing BMX tricks on a track bike that's pimped & blinged up to look more and more like a big BMX.
