Cycle Lane, Hämeentie Helsinki 2.8.2010 // Pyöräkaista Hämeentielle !!!

"We the people of Helsinki hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are equal, that they are endowed with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and cycling."

In connection with the URB festival the Länsiväylä group will realize a new work named Cycle Lane. In the work, a 'cycle lane' is painted with fluorescent paint on Hämeentie, in Helsinki. A bit like this: http://www.abitare.it/highlights/guerilla-paint-action-in-berlin/

The cycle parade assembles Monday 2nd of August 1.45 am at Piritori in Kallio Vaasanaukio in Sörnäinen and moves on from there. Cycle Lane is open for all.

ATTENTION! There's paint involved so don't put on your best clothes most expensive limited edition sneakers. We provide the gear to wash your bike afterwards at Tokoinranta."

LA Summer FIX

SlummerFIX from Matt Reyes on Vimeo.

The Great American Fixed Gear Epic

"8 states,
5 thousand miles,
2 lovers,
0 brakes.

July 20th Nikol Heathcock and Jon Keller left Austin, TX. We will be bearing the summer heat of Texas in late July, climbing over the highest points in the Rockies in August, fighting the winds of the Pacific Coast in September, and crossing the desolate and unforgiving deserts of the South-West in October. And we are doing it all with one gear and no brakes!

Follow us as we explore local bike culture in the cities along the way and the wilderness in between. We will be keeping a blog, photo journal, product reviews, and more."

And you can follow these guys epic adventure HERE....

Mark Ronson wants yo' biek!

"Bikes needed as props for new Mark Ronson video

The 'extras' list ... consists of about 20 non-specific bikes that are good looking, stylish and in decent condition for crowd scenes. There's unlikely to be any budget for the use of these.

...

And in case you're wondering, this is all genuine, above board and definitely NOT an elaborate ruse to steal lots of nice bikes!"

Ted Who?

If you don't know Ted Shred, you haven't been in this fixy biz long enough, n00bster. Simple as that. So that's a shot for Affinity Cycles Ad for Cog mag or something like that. Good to know he is still alive...

FLWRIDER Frameset

The absolute last thing I need now is yet another track frame but damn the new FLWRIDER Frameset looks sweet!

This is the first new track frame in a looong time that I really like by just looking at a photo. Filet brazed Columbus Spirit tubing is, "Like whoah dude!" to me. I'd love to know the exact geometry but all the right details and touches are there including the classic style track fork, oversize downtube and threadless 1 1/8" headset option. Brake hole drillings I could do without, though.

"We’ll be offering 5 different sizes: 50, 52, 54, 56 and 58 (seat tube C to C)
- Fillet-Brazed
- Columbus Spirit tubings
- Track geometry
- Flwrider signature colorway
- Internal seat clamp
- 68mm English BB
- 1″ treadless headset (1-1/8 treadless headset option available)
USD900 Frame and Fork"

Another One Down

This was a sad day. Mikko's Rossin Pista was not made for bike polo, obviously. On the other hand the bike has been ridden hard for a long time so this was not exactly a suprise, I guess. Also, I'd say it's still probably somehow fixable but who knows.
