Monster Track 2010
For Kings & Queens. Read more here.
"What is monster Track? This here thing just happens to be the supreme, urban Track bike racing outfit in the nation. It came from bike messengers, specifically the track biking ones, in New York City looking to get challenged. It came from riders looking to brag and talk shit. It came from riders looking to have a little fun on the side, it came from rider looking to show their bike handling skillz in this here big, bad, metropolis we call Gotham city. It came from the world of messenger alley cats that happen all over the world. This is an event about speed and bragging right. It is not for everyone. It wills flat-out leave you behind if you’re not ready. But it is also exhilarating will leave you in a State of Euphoria.(supposedly) It will pump your blood level up a couple of notches . Monstertrack is an aphrodisiac. Its anotherway to get high. There a lot of ways you can ride a trak bike, this is the definitive one. This is about Riding your bike like you own it, and not letting it own you! The scene will undoubtedly change and evolve. But there will never be a substitute for straight up hard riding. Now that true brilliance. Once a year Monstertrack happens, and when it does bring your soul ,bike, No breaks and No fear Monstertrack XI .March 6th 2010"

Monster Track X // The Urban Velo Article

"No handbrakes allowed. This truly separates the latest fixed gear converts from the urban street racers who must possess the skills to handle a track bike in unpredictable NYC traffic and often with patches of ice and snow on the ground. Monster Track may not be for messengers only, but you have to know how to handle a bike and have the unique athletic ability that couriers gain when the streets of NYC are their office."

MONSTER TRACK 2008 MAIN RACE CANCELED

By now everyone should know this already. The King of All Alleycats, Monster Track, a brakeless race on the streets of NYC, due to take place today got cancelled 'cos "Our reasons are many but the overall factor was that the race has become unmanageable due to the large participation and our concern for the participant’s safety.”
Actually only the main event, the Alley Cat race got cancelled, not the side events so go there if you're in NYC, it will be fun anyway.
Here's the full press release:
"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The organizers of Monster Track 2008 have decided, after careful consideration, to cancel this year’s main race.
This decision did not come easy and was debated at length. Our reasons are many but the overall factor was that the race has become unmanageable due to the large participation and our concern for the participant’s safety.
As many of you know, Monster Track started as a race held for a small, close group of NYC bike messengers. It has now become an overwhelmingly all-inclusive event. This, on its face, may seem like a positive direction for a race but in the context of a solely track bike alleycat it brings many problems. First and foremost, the safety of the racers is compromised. We believe that this is not a tenable position for race organizers.
Although the main race is canceled, please join us for Gold Sprints on Friday evening, Fixed Gear Competition (track stands, skids, footdown, freestyle, sprints, etc.) on Saturday and the Velo City Tour, at Kissena Velodrome on Sunday.
Schedule of Events:
Friday March 7, 8PM
Goldsprints at Third Ward
195 Morgan Ave. Brooklyn
Saturday March 8, 1PM
Fixed Gear Comp and injured messenger fundraiser at Rocky’s
South 5th St. at Kent Ave. Brooklyn
Sunday March 9, 12PM
Velo City Track Competition at Kissena Velodrome
Booth Memorial Ave near Kissena Blvd. Queens"
