Tulos Bicycles - For REBELS!
A new fashionable Finnish bike brand (of course manufactured in China) has emerged, TULOS (meaning more or less 'Score'). And apparently:

Their funky blurb somehow reminds me of the cigarette ads from the 1950s or something.
Which almost makes sense when you consider that in the 1930s there used to be a Finnish bike brand called 'Tulos' from which the guys behind this took their name. Since I cannot come up with any positive things to say about these whips, maybe it's better I shut up now.

Helsinki Bike Pockets In Practice
First official bike pockets were painted on the streets of downtown Helsinki last week. That was great, I personally think bike pockets are a great thing for cyclist struggling in busy city traffic.
Now here's just two photos showing how creative attitudes some motorists are showing towards the pockets: Using the lane that the cyclist should use in order to pass the cars to get into the pocket as nicely marked new parking slots. But it's a learning process, right?

"The idea of Global Gutz is to have a live traffic bicycle courier race in lots of cities all over the world, starting simultaneously, e.g. at 1 p.m. in San Francisco, and 4 p.m. in New York, etc. and held over a given distance and a given amount of checkpoints in an effort to try to make race conditions as equal as possible for everyone. This way we can have a world wide competition without spending a lot of money for traveling somewhere. Everyone will just be racing in their hometown knowing that in various cities around the world there are messengers racing with or against them, and the first male and female competitors to finish will be the lucky winners."
