Cinelli X MASH SF Frameset Price
So the price will be 850 USD for frame, forks and headset. In my humble opinion that's not too bad at all, I guess I was expecting it to be much more expensive. Interestingly it's also way cheaper than Cinelli Vigorelli track frameset, at least at the Wrench Science. Strange.
But then if you look at the full build prices with Campy Record or DA gruppo, things do get a bit out of hand...
Thanks to Tim for heads up on this.

More Ciöcc Pista Appreciation
I'm still stoked about the new CIÖCC Mockba 80 Pista, so here's some catalogue pics of original early 1980s Ciöcc Pista bikes, from the excellent http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/ catalogue motherlode.
There's no 1982 catalogue there unfortunately. My knowledge is not nearly deep enough and while quick googling brings up plenty of info on Ciöcc Mockba 80 road bikes which came out in 1982, there's nothing about the track bikes of the said model. The Ciöcc Mockba 80 road bike was apparently released to celebrate the 1980 Moscow Olympic 2nd place won by Poland’s Czeslaw Lang on a Ciöcc bike in the Men’s Individual Road Race.
So somebody who knows better tell me did a real Ciöcc Mockba 80 Pista ever really even exist? Or is this 'reissue' just a MOCK-ba of an old school steel track bike?
Finally, Tracko claims that '... the original rode like shit on the Track!" but how does he know that? I'm willing to bet my brand new red anodized Mack hubs that he never rode an original one on a velodrome...

Ciöcc Mockba 80 Pista Reissue
Whoa! Props to John Prolly for spotting this:
CIÖCC is reissuing the Mockba 80 Pista, a real old school classic lugged steel track bike and it looks GOOD! I'm stoked. And why hasn't any other Italian bike brand managed to get something as simple as this done before? Just a make a track bike like you used to do back in the days. No brakehole drillings, TIG welding, wacky compact geometry, ugly techno decals or other bullshit like that.
In fact, I don't know if this is a 'real' reissue or they just decided to build a bike like they used to do but who cares if it looks this nice. Columbus tubing, flat crown fork, Miche Xpress gruppo, San Marco Rolls saddle and so on. And the 999USD price is not bad at all.
Check out the specs in the 'Vintage' section of the CIÖCC Italy website.

Appetite For Destruction
Pure awesomeness. From here.
FYI: Robert Williams artwork titled 'Appetite For Destruction' was the original cover art for the Guns'n'Roses debut album. The first pressing of the album had it on the front, only in the later pressings it was hidden in the inside sleeve because American retailers refused to stock it. One of my all time favorite albums. For real.

Now I'm having a bit of hard time here trying to decide whether this is a straight-up parody of MASH SF or maybe more of a homage to the San Fran boys? It's pretty epic in many ways but decide by yourselves. Watch out for the crap audio quality, though.

MASH vs. Fake Cop
Yo'all know about the MASH SF guys doing the Tour De California because it's been reported to death everywhere but this is the funniest incident so far during their tour: Rent-a-cop tackles Garett for riding his bike too close to what, the competitors' area or whatever? Looks also bit like the fat guy is about to kick Garett's ass when he's already on the ground. And hey, this reminds me bit of that other cop-pushing-cyclist-over case too.

Williamsburg Newsflash: Hasidic Jews Lust After Hot Chicks On Bikes
This is actually old news but still pretty funny.
"Leaders of South Williamsburg's Hasidic community said yesterday that bike lanes that bring scantily clad cyclists - especially sexy women - peddling through their neighborhood are definitely not kosher.
The red-faced religious sect is calling on city officials to eliminate the car-free lanes on Wythe and Bedford avenues, and to delay construction of a new one planned for Kent Avenue.
"I have to admit, it's a major issue, women passing through here in that dress code," Simon Weisser, a member of Community Board 1 in Williamsburg-Greenpoint, told The Post.
"It bothers me, and it bothers a lot of people."
Hasids are forbidden from looking at members of the opposite sex who aren't fully dressed, said local activist Isaac Abraham."

Cyclist Shoving Cop Kicked Off The NYPD
If you remember the Youtube video of the NYPD Officer Patrick Pogan, 23, tackling a cyclist into ground for no obvious reason at the NYC Critical Mass last year, maybe you're happy to know that he has now been kicked off the police force. He's also facing criminal charges for falsifying records, which could in theory put him in the prison for up to 4 years, if he will be convicted.
We can now forget this, right?

Chrome Soyuz Backpack
Brand new offering from Chrome, the undisputed king of messenger bags, Soyuz, a backpack with an inner laptop compartment, or a 'dual compartment roll-top backpack'. Should be out very soon. Looks quite interesting.
I need to say this: 'Yo Chrome people, send me one and I'll review it, a'ight?'

Quote For Wednesday
"This is the reason i love the "fixie gear scene", the obsessive mental masturbation about bits of anodised metal from japan/italy/usa and the desire to be adored by your peers for riding a clown bike."
