Hatorade Gulp Of The Day // The Brooklyn Element

Is it ok for me to say openly that I really hate what they did to the Gangsta Track here? Like what happened to the fork? A new and improved design, with an unicrown fork. Next up: get it at your local shopping mall for 599 USD only! Whatever.

from a practical standpoint, the old bklyn fork design -- while standout, design-wise -- did tend to break under heavy use. it's understandable to move to a more durable, unicrown design.

the seat stays are made out of two pieces welded together (check the flickr) like they could't make the bend. prolly just the proto. still... weak.

Ok, sure. Obviously the unicrown fork makes sense for two reasons: it's probably stronger than the previous design but also def faster, and hence much CHEAPER to make. Why, BMW could easily outsource the fork from some Taiwanese company and nobody wouldn't even notice because now it looks just like all the other 700cmx/trick forks out there.

The other tweaks made for the frame are probably all cool, I guess, but to me at least the fork design was what made Gangsta what it is.

from what i've been able to determine, bmw is not eliminating the bladed fork and replacing it with this unicrown. the unicrown will be available as an optional fork.
