It seems that Electra is branching out from their cruiser bike stuff, which I honestly hate BTW, into more classic styled products with their new Ticino line.
Those hubs, apparently soon available both as fixed and 8/9/10 speed, look a lot like certain highly sought after Campy hubs of old. Does the name 'Sheriff Star' ring a bell? And they come with ceramic bearings, which is nice. But, funnily enough, the road hubs are NOT compatible with Campagnolo cassettes. Not much respect shown, then?
On the other hand, while the fluted cranksets don't appear to be quite so blatant copies of Nuovo Record but you can seen where the inspiration came from. What strikes me as bit odd here is why aren't they making those single speed cranks in 165mm lenght? Also, 135bcd is pretty stupid choice ATMO.
I've no idea when these will be available and what they will cost but they're all in the downloadable catalogue on their site.
the crank looks realy oldskool! i like the look of it!! but i hope they arent the shit quality as the cruisers! in the store they are allready rusted!
ReplyDeleteThose look cool. I'm sure they'll be fine, maybe some will be disappointed to pay less than they would have had to for vintage campy stuff though...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely weird that the cranks are campy road BCD and the freehub is shimano - mixed messages...
Crank arm looks like campy. Spider looks like TA.
